2008 Topps Chrome is another hit from Topps, featuring more insert and autograph cards than you can imagine! I don't even know if I can list all of the different types of cards here buy I'll give it a try.
2008 Topps Chrome Base Set
The 2008 Topps Chrome base set consists of 255 cards including 170 major league veterans, 50 rookies and young stars, and 35 rookies with signatures. Two of the autographed rookie cards are inserted into each hobby box.
2008 Topps Chrome Refractors
Each base card also has a refractor version, a copper refractor version (numbered to 599), a red refractor version (numbered to 25) and a Super-Fractor version which are one of one. The Red refractors and the Super-Fractors are only found in the hobby boxes.

2008 Topps Chrome Auto Rookie Refractors
Each autographed rookie card has a refractor version (numbered to 500), a blue refractor version (numbered to 200), a copper refractor version (numbered to 100), a red refractor version (numbered to 25) and a Super-Fractor version which are one of one. The Red refractors and the Super-Fractors are only found in the hobby boxes.
2008 Topps Chrome Printing Plates
There are four different printing plate cards for each base card and each insert card. The printing plate cards are all unique one of one cards and are only found in hobby packs.
Topps Heritage Chrome Cards
In a new move from Topps, they have extended the Topps Heritage chrome set. New Topps Heritage chrome cards are found in the Topps Chrome packs, and are numbered from 101-200 thus extending the original 100 chrome card set in 2008 Topps Heritage. Just as in Topps Heritage, the regular chrome cards are numbered out of 1959, the refractors are numbered out of 599 and the black refractors are numbered out of 59. The Topps Heritage Chrome set was eventually expanded even more with numbers 201-300 being inserted into packs of 2008 Topps Heritage High Numbers cards.
2008 Topps Chrome Insert Cards
There are four main insert sets in the 2008 Topps Chrome set:
- Baseball Card History featuring 50 current stars on vintage card designs.
- Topps All-Rookie Team featuring 23 players on the Topps All-Rookie Team.
- The Mickey Mantle Story featuring 10 cards of Mickey Mantle and his family.
- Mickey Mantle Home Run History featuring information on 17 of the Mick's most famous home runs.
