2009 Topps Chrome

2009 Topps Chrome will feature a base set of 220 cards including 170 veterans and 50 rookies, as well as plenty of inserts and parallels.  Unless Topps comes out with a surprise there will not be an extension to the Topps Heritage chrome set like there was in 2008.

Boxes

2009 Topps Chrome hobby boxes will contain 24 packs.  Each pack has four cards and each box will contain two autographed rookie cards including up and coming stars such as Elvis Andrus and Matt LaPorta.

Refractors

There are 880 one of one printing plate cards and 220 one of one superfractors that can only be found in 2009 Topps Chrome hobby boxes.  There are also 220 different Red Refractors, Gold Refractors and Blue Refractors.  The reds are numbered out of 25, the golds are numbered out of 50 and the blues are numbered out of 199.  Refractors will be found at a rate of one per three packs.

Autographed Rookie Refractors

Each of the 23 autographed 2009 Topps Chrome rookie cards will also have several refractor parallel versions.  One of one Printing Plate and Superfractors will be found only in hobby boxes.  Red Refractor autos are numbered to 25, Gold Refractor autos are numbered to 50, Blue Refractor autos are numbered to 199 and regular refractor autos are numbered to 499.

World Baseball Classic Cards

One hundred different players from around the world that participated in the 2009 World Baseball Classic will be featured on 2009 Topps Chrome World Baseball Classic cards.  Much like the autos, in addition to the base cards there will be one of one superfractors and printing plates that are found exclusively in hobby packs.  There will be Red Refractors (#'s out of 25), Gold Refractors (#'s out of 50), Blue Refractos (#'d out of 199) and regular refractors (#'d out of 500).
